LSD Supports One F'in Mile!

LSD will be entering a team for:

ONE F’IN MILE TO SUPPORT SHARK CONSERVATION

Shark and marine conservation charity, Bite-Back, has teamed up with leading scuba manufacturer Mares to launch an exciting fundraising event that will challenge divers to walk a mile in their fins. The event — One F’in Mile — will take place on Saturday 17 August at Kempton Park Racecourse in Surrey.

The charity is hoping to raise enough money to fund its campaign to make Britain the first country in the world to ban shark fin soup.

Campaign director for Bite-Back, Graham Buckingham, said: “This is the perfect excuse for divers and families to get together for a fun, top-side challenge. It’s going to be a terrific day full of laughter and, who knows, we may even set a World Record.”

Kempton Park is an oval grass track that has hosted legendary races from thoroughbred champions including Red Rum and Desert Orchid. As a venue it also boasts its own railway station (40 minutes from Waterloo) and over 500 free car parking spaces.

Spokesperson for Mares UK, Richard Corner, said: “We’re delighted to sponsor this event and support Bite-Back’s exciting shark conservation campaigns. We hope everyone gets behind this fun challenge to demonstrate their love of sharks and the oceans.”

Fundraisers can either choose to complete a single mile or opt for a full lap of the circuit at 1.4 miles.

The team at Bite-Back has already clocked a time of 53 minutes for a full lap, but has put its slow time down to ‘fits of giggles’ and ‘moon-walking like Michael Jackson’.

It costs £20 to register and participants are invited to raise £100 each in sponsorship.
